the holistic practice of
James Colvin, MDiv & MFT

You are not your problems.

You might have problems (who doesn’t?) but hey — pay attention — you have so much more than that. You ARE so much more than that. The truth is, you are a person who is deeply, perpetually, OKAY.

Pain can become wisdom. Conflict is a catalyst toward connection. No matter what’s going on now, you’re going to be okay.

Individual Counseling

Practical work will include:

  • Dream awareness and discussion
  • Self dialogue
  • Spiritual practices
  • Gratitude exercises

Couples Counseling

Marriage is many things… and sometimes it can feel like all those things are problems.

We often think of marriage (or any committed relationship) as the merging of two lives into one. But the truth is, there are three components to a healthy relationship: yours (your partner), mine (yourself), and ours (the relationship itself). Like an equilateral triangle, each element is just as crucial as the other two.

Pastoral Counseling

A spiritual practice isn’t necessarily about one religion or another. It’s a connection to something larger than yourself.

If faith is important to you, I can certainly work within that. But if it’s not? Well, I’m not gonna throw Bibles at you.

Jim is a very compassionate and effective counselor. I know of many people and couples that he has helped. We have shared several clients so I know first hand the results he is able to facilitate and achieve for people. I can wholeheartedly recommend Jim\’s services.

    Dr. JoJo Yonce

Jim\’s holistic heart-felt demeanor and experience shine through! I would refer him to anyone looking to deepen their relationships and understand themselves better.

    J. Anya Harris, DC

Jim\’s ability to connect and see you through difficult times is remarkable. Not only is he kind and patient, he also has decades of experience working with a diverse range of clients, making him a fantastic therapist.

The therapeutic relationship is founded on trust and acceptance. It can be scary to place your trust in a therapist, especially if it’s your first time.

I am happy to answer any questions you have and talk with you before scheduling a session to make sure it’s the right fit for both of us.

Please reach out to me using any of the channels below (email is best), and we’ll talk.
